What is a Pool Heat Pump?
A Pool Heat Pump, more commonly known as a Pool Heater, uses a small amount of energy to extract warmth from the air and transfer that heat to the pool water.
How does a Pool Heat Pump work?
A Pool Heat Pump operates by drawing in warm air via its fan. The heat is extracted, converted into a gas by the refrigerant within the evaporator coil, and then pumped into a compressor, increasing its heat. The hot gas passes through a heat exchanger condenser, while the pool pump circulates water from the pool through the pool heater. The hot gas transfers its heat to the water as they pass through the heat exchanger simultaneously. The water is heated by 0.5 – 1 degrees before flowing back into the pool. The hot gas returns to liquid form in the condenser coil, restarting the entire process in the evaporator.
Benefits of a Pool Heat Pump
The benefits of Heat Pumps include;
* Source of renewable energy
* Effective in low temperatures, can operate down to -15c
* All-round superior efficiencies. Takes 1 unit of electricity and Provides as much as 16 units of Heat
* Convenient – no roof space or panels required. Use that valuable roof space to put Solar PhotVoltaic panels and generate your own electricity
* Ease of installation (uses existing connections)
* High grade production and engineering means extended life spans & less maintenance
* Safe (no combustion)
